Roy Bethune says President Obama is no fool, but that "in his heart he will still be a Muslim" and "he will still have no love for the White race." I have seen no evidence that the President has any Muslim leanings; in fact, a much-discussed item in the campaign was his allegiance to a pastor. He attends church far more regularly than President Reagan did. The President was raised by his white mother and her parents. Does he have no love for those who nurtured him through childhood, and instead somehow embraces the race and religion of his absent father?
When the President was elected, it was said by some that terrible things would happen. Yet he has presided over no economic collapse. In fact, Wall Street has been booming since his inauguration and the bank bailout money has been mostly repaid. After the health care bill was passed, one Republican predicted we would see Armageddon.
Now, the same people who warned us of the President's first term are saying we will see true catastrophe if he is re-elected. Such opinions are typical campaign talk. As for myself, I see nothing radical about our current President. If anything has changed, it is the number of people who are openly questioning the beliefs and patriotism of an American President. What has happened to patriotism in our country when we treat our own President as an enemy?
