The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Acworth man Friday after a vehicle chase that ended on Interstate 75 near Cobb County.

According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, Gregory Ernest Gann Jr., 23, of Bryan Drive in Acworth was in the lobby of the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office earlier in the day speaking with administrative personnel. It was discovered that Gann had an active warrant for probation violation, but he fled prior to being arrested.

About 1:30 p.m., a patrol deputy spotted Gann driving a red Mercury Sable in Acworth on Arrington Road and attempted to stop him. Gann fled in his vehicle and a chase ensued. Gann drove into Cherokee County and then Cobb County attempting to elude the patrol car.

Near I-75 the Georgia State Patrol joined in the pursuit, and shortly after entering I-75 south from Highway 92, Gann pulled to the side of the road and was arrested.

In addition to the original warrant for probation violation, Gann faces new charges of fleeing and attempting to elude and reckless driving.
