Monday night's season opener did not yield a win for Cass' girls soccer team, but its coach seemed willing to take the 1-1 tie at Calhoun considering how his young team looked.

"We're pretty young and we have a lot of inexperienced players, but they did not look bad," Lady Colonels coach Phil Phillips said. "They looked good. We [have] a lot of improvement [to make], but they held their own. ... [This gives] us something to build on."

The Lady Yellow Jackets tallied their goal in the 32nd minute, and Cass' Charlotte Frady slid in the equalizer in the 67th minute.

Of his team's ability to rally back from a one-goal deficit, Phillips said, "That is a plus."

"They did pretty well," he continued. "We definitely need some improvement, but that will come with time."
