Three men were arrested after deputies from Bartow County Sheriff's Office responded to an aggravated assault call at 211 Camp Sunrise Road, Cartersville, last Wednesday. Upon arrival deputies located a victim with lacerations to his head and marijuana lying around the victim on the ground. Deputies contacted the Bartow-Cartersville Drug Task Force (Safe Streets Task Force). An agent spoke with the victim who said he was there to purchase marijuana but instead the dealers robbed him at gunpoint.

The victim was transported to Floyd Medical Center and later released. The following day agents with the drug task force arrested Kevin Christopher Michael Winter, 18, for possession of marijuana. Taylor James Ammons, 21, and Ethan James Whorton, 20, were arrested Sunday on various charges including criminal attempt to commit armed robbery, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

According to Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap and Cartersville Police Department Chief Tommy Culpepper a drug deal turned into an attempted armed robbery. Sheriff Millsap said the two dealers made plans in advance to rob the purchaser and during the deal one of the dealers pulled out a weapon. Chief Culpepper said that during the robbery the weapon was discharged inside of a vehicle. The men were booked into the Bartow County jail.
