Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 20, at the New Hope Baptist Church of Cassville. Interment will follow in the Cassville City Cemetery.
David Harris McClure was born Feb. 5, 1947, in Bartow County (Cassville), as the oldest of two children, to the late David and Grace Wofford McClure Sr.
At an early age David attended St. James AME Methodist Church and New Hope Baptist Church. He attended Noble Hill School and Bartow County Public Schools. David was a 1965 graduate of Summer Hill High School.
Cassville became too small for David so he relocated to Decatur. After 38 years of service he retired from the DeKalb County Water and Sewer Department. He was devoted to his job and took great pride in his work, as well as his yard and cars.
David married Erma McCoy and two sons were born to this union.
His father, mother and two brothers, Jerry McClure and Robert Wofford, preceded him in death.
Those who will cherish his memory are his sons, Demetrius McClure, Dorian McClure and Rodriquez McClure; daughters, Jasmine McClure and Mya McClure; six grandchildren; a special friend, Flora Lou Sims; stepson, Antonio Sims; a special cousin, Willie Wofford; nieces, nephews, other cousins, co-workers and friends.
