A three-vehicle accident about 11 a.m. Friday closed Highway 411 for 20 to 30 minutes, according to Cartersville Fire Department Station 2.

CFD said the motorcyclist, who witnesses placed between 50 and 60 years old, was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital with head injuries. He was wearing a helmet.

According to the accident report, a driver awaiting oncoming traffic at the intersection of Highway 411 and Dent Drive pulled into the path of Gregory Rosevear of Rydal — a motorcyclist — in an attempt to avoid being rear ended by a vehicle who failed to slow for stopped traffic.

The driver attempted to turn left onto Dent Drive, and during this maneuver, Rosevear attempted to avoid striking the vehicle by laying his motorcycle down shortly after the two other vehicles collided.

A passenger in the car struck in the rear complained of chest pain.

The driver of the other car was cited for following too closely.
