Woodland came from behind to tie Creekview in regulation then won in the shootout to notch a big region win Friday night.

Woodland moved to 5-8 overall and 3-4 in Region 7-AAAA with the 2-1 victory.

"This was a total team effort and a big win for our program," head coach Kyle Morgan said. "Creekview played in the state championship game last year and was a very good team. We are continuing to get better and [we are] coming together as a team."

Creekview scored first, taking a 1-0 lead near the end of the first half with a goal on a penalty kick.

The Lady Wildcats answered in the 44th minute to tie with a goal by Lindsey Good, who got an assist from Alexis Velasquez.

The score remained tied at 1-all throughout the regulation part of the contest and then the overtime periods before going to the shootout.

Wildcat goalie Alicia Velasquez came up with two big saves during the shootout, which the Lady Wildcats won 3-0. Scoring for Woodland in the shootout were: Sara Garrett, Alexis Velasquez and Emily Moore.

Woodland next plays at home against Chattahoochee on Friday.
