On Thursday, April 14, Fantastic Sams of Cartersville will be hosting a benefit for the Garrett Steven Black Baseball Scholarship Fund.

The hair salon will be offering $10 haircuts and will be donating 100 percent of the proceeds to the Scholarship Fund. Garrett had been a patron of Fantastic Sams since October 2007. The salon will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Raffles will be held in- house throughout the day. Fantastic Sams is located at 402 E. Church St. next to Moe's.

On Monday, March 14, Garrett, 8, was hit and killed in a bus accident at the city school system's bus barn at 150 Milner Road. To honor his memory, his relatives have established the Garrett Steven Black Baseball Scholarship Fund. In the future, the college scholarship will be awarded to a student who has played baseball at Cartersville High School.
