Betty Jo Vaughan, 84, lifelong resident of Cartersville, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011.

Mrs. Vaughan was born Sept. 9, 1926, in Bartow County, the daughter of the late, James Russell and Grace Allred McCoy, was a homemaker and a Charter member of Gilmer Street/Grace Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Oliver Vaughan and two brothers, Charles McCoy and Lamar McCoy.

Surviving are her children, Carol Vaughan Matthews, Terry and Aledia Vaughan, Marilyn and Larry Hobgood, all of Cartersville, Kent and Billie Vaughan of Chelsea, Ala., grandchildren, Chris and Carrie Matthews, Heather and Davis Jones, Travis and Katie Vaughan, Jill and Blake Arthur, Joanna Hobgood, Brandy, Katy and Jonathan Vaughan, great-grandchildren, Noah, Kai and Keagan Matthews, Eva Kate, Arthur and Jackson Vaughan.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 5 until 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 19, at 10 a.m., in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Harris officiating.

Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery in Rydal.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
