Mr. Summey was born May 6, 1929, in Cobb County, a son of the late Columbus Summey and Ardele Fowler Summey.
Willard was the owner of Turner and Summey Furniture Company in Cartersville for 22 years and owner of Summey's Furniture Store in Jasper for 13 years. He was a longtime member of the Zion Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Gladys Wilson Summey, daughter and son in law, Brenda and Kenneth Chitwood, granddaughters and husbands, Ginger and Todd Matthews and Leigh Ann and Bo Mulkey, great grandsons, Preston Matthews, Levi Matthews and Landon Mulkey, sister and husband, Bernice and Bob Lewis, brothers and wives, Edward and Ann Summey, Glenn and Ruth Summey and Larry and Margaret Summey, special care giver, Ellen Smith and the wonderful staff of Amedysis Hospice.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, J.L. Summey, Wallace Summey and James Summey.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m., Saturday, April 30, from the Zion Hill Baptist Church with Rev. David Baker and Rev. Dewey Atchley officiating. Interment was in the Sunset Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers were Preston and Levi Matthews, Landon Mulkey, Jerry Summey, Charles Summey, Ernie Parr, Wayne Turner and Griffin Padgett. Honorary pallbearers were Hugh Bradley, Robert Ed Hicks, Paul Wilson, Howard Wilson and Bob Lewis.
