Cartersville needed extra innings to advance Friday while Adairsville scored nearly 30 runs in two shutout wins as both teams moved on to the second round of their respective GHSA baseball playoffs.

The Purple Hurricanes won, 9-1 and 6-2 (extra innings), in a Class AAA matchup with Arabia Mountain, and the Tigers beat Manchester 14-0 and 15-0 to get to Round 2 of the Class AA playoffs.

Woodland, however, had its season come to an end with 9-2 and 15-3 losses at Kell in the first round of the Class AAAA playoffs.
