Ruben Brown, media relations specialist at the American Red Cross Atlanta chapter, said there are resources available by the organization within Bartow County that residents need to be made aware of.

"We have mobile feeding units, they're known as emergency response vehicles that are canvassing the area providing food," Brown said. "I believe it's such a vast area that maybe people don't see the Red Cross, it may be that the Red Cross is providing food to some agencies and we don't have a signage out there that proclaims that, but Red Cross is present."

In response to the county lacking a Red Cross shelter, Brown said, "We had a shelter open, but at that point it was our understanding that there wasn't a need for a Red Cross emergency shelter, so we've since closed it. We stand ready to open the shelter if the need is evident, so that's not an issue."

Brown said the organization is working with Grace Baptist Church, Graceland Church and Cedar Creek Baptist to help funnel resources to the right parties.

"Red Cross volunteers are working around the clock to try and address needs, and in fact, the citizens of [Bartow County] can expect to see an increased Red Cross appearance going forward."
