After meeting more than an hour, the Kingston city council voted on two of the five items listed on their Monday night agenda.

The council approved establishing a contract with Bartow County Animal Control to assist the city with loose dogs and animals throughout the area. Due to concerns with possibilities of rabies and other animal diseases, animal control was decided as the best and safest option for the city.

Celeste Keester also was hired for a full-time position as the deputy city clerk.

Bids have been requested by the council for new playground equipment following an accident when a swing broke, injuring a young girl. Engineering and contractor bids also have been requested for a septic tank installation behind City Hall.

An official vote on the budget has not yet been approved as overtime for maintenance personnel is being disputed and a thorough report is requested by the council.
