Bartow County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Jonathan Rogers said a crash Thursday afternoon at Baker and Bishop roads occurred after a suspect ran a red light and a deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, ending after the car crashed into the ditch.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating and believe the same suspect caused crashes in other areas.

One person was airlifted with head injuries, and another was transported to Cartersville Medical Center.

When asked Thursday afternoon if the crash was fatal, the Bartow County Fire Department replied, "Not yet."

Deputies on scene believe alcohol was involved, according to Rogers.

No further details could be provided by GSP or BCFD Thursday evening. A request for information from the BCSO was not met by press time.

Police investigating alleged rape

Cartersville police are investigating a woman's claim that she was raped Tuesday afternoon in the rear parking lot of Jefferson's Restaurant. According to the officer's incident report, he spoke with the victim by phone on Wednesday morning.

The 23-year-old white female said she was raped by a white male suspect inside a vehicle while at the restaurant, located at 28 W. Main St.

The incident report lists the suspect's vehicle as a 1995 black Nissan Maxima.

Gas stolen from woman's car

A woman told a Bartow County deputy that seven gallons of gas were stolen from her Honda parked under the carport of her Wayland Circle home.

The complainant said she received a call from her son-in-law around midnight Tuesday, who said he saw someone around the vehicles. The complainant said she went out and locked the car doors, but when she let her dogs out about 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, she smelled gasoline.

During the investigation the deputy noticed a small scratch on the driver's rear panel near the gas door and also saw an outline where gas was spilled.

Woman arrested for family violence against her boyfriend

An Acworth woman was arrested Wednesday night after she smashed a brick into her boyfriend's windshield.

According to a Bartow County incident report, Alicia Wooten went to a residence where her boyfriend was to confront him about infidelity. A witness told the deputy that Wooten chased her boyfriend around the yard and got in his face. The victim said Wooten yelled and screamed at him before kicking him and smashing his windshield.

The deputy noticed a large scratch on the victim's left cheek and multiple scratches on his chest and legs. He also saw the vehicle smashed in two places.

Wooten was arrested and charged with battery and criminal trespass under the Family Violence Act.
