Cartersville LL to host state tourney in July

Cartersville Little League will host the 2011 Little League Baseball Georgia State Championship Tournament in July.

According to Tom Gooch with Cartersville Little League:

The tournament will be played July 23 to 29 on the Rudy York and Joe Frank Harris fields in the Cartersville Little League complex in the Clearwater Street Park, at 51 Clearwater St.

Competing teams are the district champions from the 10 Little League Georgia districts. They include: District 1, northwest Georgia; Cartersville/Cedartown/Rockmart/Rome area; District 2, Cobb County/Douglas County area and the north metro Atlanta area; District 3, Dekalb County area; District 4, Peachtree City area; District 5, Macon/Warner Robins area; District 6, Augusta area; District 7, northeast Georgia, the Toccoa/Clarkesville/Livonia area; District 8, southwest Georgia, the Columbus area; District 9, southeast Georgia, the Savannah area; and District 10, the Athens/Monroe area.

The Georgia state champion advances to the Little League Baseball Southeastern Regional Tournament in Warner Robins starting Aug. 5.

The Southeastern Region champion advances to the Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania starting Aug. 18.
