The Cartersville Fury, a 12-and-under travel basketball team, collected another trophy last weekend, winning the Peach State Classic at North Springs High in Atlanta.

In the championship game of the Y.B.O.A tournament, the Fury ran up against the Blue Crush of Marietta for the third time in two weeks.

As it had in a Mother's Day weekend tournament final at Woodland High, as well as in pool play of the Peach State Classic, the Fury triumphed, 38-29, keeping the Blue Crush from exacting revenge.

Chyna Johnson paced Cartersville with 10 points, and Kalisha Printup added 6.

In the first game of the tournament last Friday, the Fury took down the Peachtree City Triple Threat, grabbing the victory behind Jana Mourning's 11 points.

On Saturday, Printup tallied 10 and Johnson 9 as Cartersville nipped the Blue Crush, 34-31.

The Fury's third game of the tournament proved one of its toughest as a slow start led to a 39-37 loss to the Canton-based North Georgia Heat. Jana Mourning and Monica Motuba led Cartersville with 8 and 6 points, respectively.

With the loss, the Fury fell into a three-way tie with the Heat and Blue Crush, eventually earning Pool A's No. 2 seed due to a tiebreaker based on point spread.

In last Sunday's semifinals, Cartersville matched up with the Canton Crush White, the No. 1 seed out of Pool B. The Fury went in for a tough test as the Crush White had won its pool play games by a margin of 25-30 points.

The Fury, however, came ready to play, outrebounding the Crush White by 30 -- 42-12 -- en route to a 43-25 win. Motuba had 11 points while Kimora McClinic posted 7 points and eight rebounds.
