Purple Hurricane hurler Kendall Hawkins has been selected to play for Team Georgia in the 15th annual Junior Sunbelt Classic held in McAlester, Okla.
Hawkins, a junior, pitched for the Cartersville Purple Hurricanes this past season.
The tournament showcases the best junior-year high school baseball players in eight states as well as a team from Canada. Those states are Missouri, Texas, Mississippi, Arizona, Tennessee, Georgia, Colorado and Oklahoma.
The event will run June 10-June 15.
In 2009, Team Georgia, which included Cane hurler Adam Clark, won the Sunbelt Classic Championship.
