He was born in Calhoun, on Aug. 8, 1940, to the late D. S. and Letha Cochran McClure. Mr. McClure was a veteran having served in the U. S. Air National Guard and the U. S. Air Force Reserves. He retired from CSX Railroad where he had worked as an engineer for more than 27 years. Mr. McClure was a member of the Yaarab Shrine Temple, a member and past master of the Adairsville Masonic Lodge # 168, and enjoyed gardening. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Murphy McClure in 2003.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Tyrone and Tamara McClure of Adairsville, and Todd and Kim McClure also of Adairsville; six grandchildren, Rusty Gwin, Carmen McClure, Lauren McClure, Lyle McClure, Autumn McClure, and Abigail McClure; a sister and brother-in-law, Glenese and Frank Riddick of Kingston; a brother, Randy McClure of Dalton; nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 13, at 2 p.m., at Adairsville Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Webster and Rev. Steve Morrow officiating. The body will lie in state at the church on Monday from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville, with Masonic grave rites.
Pallbearers include Rusty Gwin, Lyle McClure, Donald Bearden, Doug Riddick, Jeff Riddick, Paul Cuprowski, and Lee Cuprowski. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Satterfield, Gary Smith, and Lamar Camp.
The family will receive friends Sunday, June 12, from 6 until 9 p.m., at Barton Funeral Home.
