Funeral service will be Saturday, June 18, at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cartersville. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Devine Providence Church located at 728 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Cartersville.
Queen was born May 18, 1924, in Donalsonville, to the late Tom Gamble and Emma George.
She was a life long member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Queen was a faithful member of the Fourth Ward Club and the Galeda Sunday School Class.
She attended Summer Hill School and was a lead player for the basketball team.
Queen was owner of the Lucky 7 Club where she cooked and served her famous fired chicken and potato salad. She also worked for the Champion and Williams Families.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Emma Jean Knox, and Sharon Guthrie Williams; sister, Mary Lou Chatmon; brother, Samuel George (Brenda); grandchildren, Larry Slocum, Marcus Woods, Dominique Guthrie, Marcella Woods and Tamelsa Willis; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
