Born in Floyd County July 2, 1931, he was the son of the late Norman Ester Farmer Sr. and the late Elsie Lou Wright. Preceding him in death along with his parents is one son, Charles Henry Farmer, and a brother, Horace Farmer.
Mr. Farmer was a Baptist minister and a member of Whitworth Memorial Baptist Church. Mr. Farmer could be found in a church service somewhere, everywhere, every day of the week. He was also a beekeeper, and loved to hunt and fish.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Lanning Farmer; his children, Lewis (Julie), Larry (Brenda), Millard (Brenda), Junior, Noah (Katie)and Dave (Laura) Farmer and Mary (James) Sanders and a daughter-in-law, Faye Farmer. A sister, Helen Sutton; two brothers, Charles and John Henry Farmer; 23 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 30, in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Marvin Ellis and Rev. Danny Buchanan officiating. Following the service Mr. Farmer will be carried to Tilley Church in Blue Ridge to lie in state for one hour. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
His sons, Larry, Millard, Junior, Noah, Lewis and David Farmer will serve as pallbearers. Charlie, John, Chris and James Farmer, along with Ken Hughes will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family received friends from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville.
