Staff Report

The Bartow County Fire Department received multiple calls Monday night related to passing thunderstorms. Reports through dispatch stated one resident was struck by lightning and at least two structure fires were reported before 9 p.m.

Cartersville Fire Department crews assisted the Bartow County Fire Department on a call on Crystal Mountain Road off Dabbs Bridge Road near the Cobb County line Monday at 7:22 p.m.

According to CFD, a home was hit by lightning and a tree fell across power lines, blocking the road. Cobb crews also assisted Bartow. The small fire was quickly contained and the home suffered minimal damage.

The county remained out on various calls through the night. More information will be posted as it becomes available. See Wednesday's Daily Tribune for updates and safety tips.
