A body found off Collins Drive in Cartersville is being treated as a suspicious death.

The body of a white male was discovered by a passing motorist just off the roadway about 50 yards from Bodyplex about 9:40 p.m. Saturday, according to Officer G.D. Barry. It is unclear how long the man had been deceased.

The male, roughly 50 years of age, suffered abrasions, according to Barry, although callers told 911 the man was bleeding from the head, chest and arm.

It was unclear Saturday evening how the man died, but Barry said CPD was not ruling out hit and run, blunt force trauma or the body being dumped at that location.

No identification was found with the body, and Barry said it is possible the man was homeless. No other evidence was found in the area with the body.
