Emerson once again will not levy a property tax on citizens.

During Monday's city council meeting, the council set the millage rate at 5 mills and rolled it back to zero.

The millage rate is a figure applied to the value of property to determine property tax liability. Since 1989 the city has voted to set the millage rate at 5 mills and roll it back to zero.

The city met in a called meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday to discuss personnel. The council voted to approve the termination of a former employee.

Also, on Wednesday, the council will hold a called meeting at 5:30 p.m. at city hall.
