Annie Inez Hightower, 91, was promoted Friday morning, July 15, to be in the presence of her Lord Jesus and her loved ones who had gone before her.

Mrs. Hightower was born Feb. 5, 1920, in Kingston, Bartow County, Ga., daughter of the late George Randall Floyd and Mary Ethel Moody Floyd. She was a dedicated Mother of 11 children and her grandchildren. She was married to Rev. Johnson Hightower April 1, 1939, who preceded her in death in 1996.

She was a very hardworking person with many interests. She loved to dance, sing and draw. She also loved quilting, canning and gardening. She had beautiful flowers and loved collecting old jewelry and antiques. She was a person very serious about her relationship with God and her family. She left a beautiful family who is already keenly aware of their great loss. Mama, we will miss you but make no mistake, we will see you again. We look forward to our reunion -- Love and Kisses, your Family.

Mrs. Hightower was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and was employed with Cartersville Spinning and Dan River Carpet until her retirement.

Mrs. Hightower was also preceded in death by her grandson, Randall Scottie Freeman; her brother, Theodore Floyd; her sisters, Edna Hall, Esma Busby, Ruby Simmons and Frances Hale.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law; Markeeta Freeman, Carole and Harold Harris, Anne and Patrick Cooney, Cozette Hightower, Sue and Jerry Gossett, Cindy and Joel Holland, Lisa Weldon, Sherrie and Johnny Tyler; sons and daughters-in-law; Kenneth and Jean Hightower, Ronnie and Chrystal Hightower, David and Stacy Hightower; grandchildren; Gwenda Barnes, Stacey West, Jeffrey Harris, Kevin Harris, Anthony Hightower, Greg Hightower, Chris Shellhorse, Richie Shellhorse, Lizabeth Casey, Kelly Breland, Nonnie Hightower, Miranda Hensley, Carla Gossett, Jeremy Gossett, Drew Hightower, Brandon Dollar and a special grandson, Reuben Lowe; 27 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law; Ola Otting and Ruth Henderson; brother-in-law; Willard Hightower; her beloved dog, "Charlie Brown" also survives.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday morning July 18 at 11 a.m. in the Owen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home. Pallbearers include grandsons and great-grandsons; Chris Shellhorse, Richie Shellhorse, Eddie Royal, Jeremy Gossett, Drew Hightower and Zachary Brown.
