In Judge Carey Nelson's court, four driving under the influence cases as well as forgery, stalking and burglary will be tried. Two cases involve attempted child molestation for Adrian Wehunt Sr. and Maurice Korey King, who also faces a charge of aggravated sexual battery.
Judge David Smith will be absent from trials this week, but Judge Don Howell from Douglas County will be filling in for Bartow. In Judge Howell's court, Abron Browning will be present on a charge of aggravated attempt to commit arson after he allegedly placed items on a stove and turned the eyes on high in an attempt to catch the items on fire in an August 2011 incident.
Other cases to be heard before Howell include aggravated assault, false imprisonment and several drug cases where defendants are faced with various charges including possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, trafficking in methamphetamine, sale of cocaine and possession of oxycodone, hydrocodone and methadone.
Citizens called for jury duty for this week of trials are to report to the Frank Moore Administration and Judicial Center on Cherokee Avenue in Cartersville at 9 a.m. in courtroom D. Anyone with questions may call Gary Bell, clerk of Superior Court, at 770-607-6333.
