A native of Bartow County, born March 30, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Bennett and the late Lula Belle Hufstetler Bennett. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Will James; her son, Stevie James; and her daughter, Shelia Lowe.
Shirley was a member of David Street Church of God and was a housewife.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Pitts and ex-husband, Mark; her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Linda James; her grandchildren, Chastity, Josh, Jacob, Matthew, Josh and Christopher James, Heather Hodges, Eric Lowe and Brandi Reeves; several great-grandchildren; her brothers, Michael and Joe Bennett; her sisters, Katherine Martin, Josephine Hinsley, Caroline Goss, Sue Bell and Joyce Dunagan; along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at David Street Church of God with Rev. P.J. Piatt and Rev. Joshua James presiding. Burial will follow in Zion Hill Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Lowe, Terry Lowe, Raymond Cantrell, Matthew James, Christopher James and Dan Harlon.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
