Funeral service will be Saturday, Aug. 27, at noon at Damascus Missionary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 26, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Harvey was born June 13, 1953, in Bartow County to the late James and Mae Paris Williams Johnson.
He was a member of Damascus Missionary Baptist Church, serving on many ministries and singing in the choir.
He attended Bartow Elementary School. He then received a scholarship to the Kent Prepatory School in Kent, Conn. Harvey received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina.
After graduating from college he relocated to Augusta, where he worked for various companies. Harvey returned to Emerson in 1998 to care for his mother after his father passed away.
Harvey joined the staff of Mack Eppinger & Sons Funeral Service, Inc. as office manager. Because of his caring spirit he helped many families through a difficult time dealing with the loss of a loved one. He was a loyal and devoted employee. Harvey completed his apprenticeship through the Georgia State Board of Funeral Service.
He also worked as a second assistant manager for Kroger Inc. in Acworth.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a sister, Mary Jordan (Phillip); brother-in-law, Rev. Charles Duncan (Marcia); nephew, Brian Duncan (Melissa); niece, Angela Duncan; great-niece, Sydney Duncan. His adoptive parents, James and Annie Ruth Whitfield and Terry and Ruby Webb, a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
