Harper’s recommendation during the Monday, Aug. 23, business meeting failed 3-2 with Angie Cornett, John Howard and Davis Nelson voting against and Larry Parker and Wanda Cagle Gray voting for.
Gray said Costley was the most qualified candidate for the position and accused board members voting against of wanting to remove Harper from his position and only hire from within the system.
Cornett said she supports Harper and believes all Bartow County school employees are capable of taking any position.
