"Celebration of excellence is really two-fold," said Principal Wesley Roach. "It is an opportunity for us to display the students at our school, show their talents and sort of showcase some of our students ... and then it also serves as a fundraiser that helps support tuition assistance for qualifying families at our school.
"Many of our students come from families who wouldn't necessarily be able to attend Excel if they had to pay the full tuition on their own, but fortunately we do have tuition assistance that we're able to offer, and that tuition assistance is partly supported by this celebration of excellence."
Known worldwide as a comedian, musician and songwriter, Lowry is an active member of the Gaither Vocal Band and performs in concerts throughout the country, traveling with pianist Stan Whitmire. His most famous song, "Mary, Did You Know?" has been recorded by more than 30 artists.
"It will be an exciting evening of laughing, maybe even some crying, but certainly some great music," Roach said. "There won't be anybody to leave disappointed after hearing our guest speaker and the talent from our student body who will be singing as well."
The concert will be held in the worship center at The Church at Liberty Square, located at 2001 Liberty Square Drive in Cartersville, beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets for the event are available for $30 in the balcony and $40 for the main floor. Purchase locations include Excel Christian Academy, The Church at Liberty Square and Open Door Christian Bookstore.
