Cartersville High punter Collin Barber has been suspended for one game after his arrest by Cartersville police over the weekend in connection with the destruction of some mailboxes.

Barber will miss Friday night’s game against the Darlington Tigers, head coach Frank Barden said.

“The bottom line is Collin made a bad choice and is in the process of serving a punishment, and then he’s going to move on,” the coach said.

Barber was arrested Sunday by Cartersville police and charged with four counts of destruction of mailboxes.

Barber had missed Cartersville’s scrimmage game two weeks ago against Woodland but handled punting duties for the Purple Hurricanes last week.

Last summer the punter signed a scholarship to punt for UGA after he graduates from Cartersville.
