He was born in Taylorsville, Sept. 12, 1924, and was the son of the late Clifford Barnette Sr. and the late Fannie Brewer Barnette. Preceding him in death are his parents; his brother, Wilson Barnette; his sisters, Daisy Brock, Francis Womack and Lura Templeton; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Craig.
Junior, as he was known by his friends, was a family focused man and in his earlier years enjoyed fishing, playing softball and bowling.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Craig Barnette; his children, Dianne and Zack Knox and Angie Barnette and Guy Haney; his grandchildren, Lorie Wilson, Wilson and Shane Gilstrap, Cliff and Amelia Lipscomb, Katie and Jeramey Schmanski; his great-grandchildren, Craig Leonard, Eric and Alli Bell, Jake and Ally Schmanski, Thoreau and Hadassah Lipscomb.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Donnie Summey and grandson Cliff Lipscomb officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home on Sunday at 2:15 p.m. and will include: Cliff Lipscomb, Jeramey Schmanski, Craig Leonard, Eric Bell, Richard Tidwell, Robert Ed Hicks, J. L. Crocker, Bob Lochart and Jimmy Hartness.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville.
