The Cartersville Police Department has filed charges against previously arrested Jerry Jerome Kilgore, 17, of 366 Old Mill Road, Apt. 507, Cartersville, in connection with home invasions that took place on July 14 and Aug. 9.

Kilgore was already in custody at the Bartow County jail for an incident that had occurred Aug. 5 at a Pine Grove Road residence.

Kilgore has been charged with rape, aggravated assault, battery, false imprisonment, burglary and obstruction of an emergency phone call, all in connection with the July 14 home invasion.

In connection with a home invasion on Aug. 9, Kilgore has been charged with criminal attempt to commit rape, aggravated assault, burglary, false imprisonment, battery and obstruction of an emergency phone call.

According to a July 14 report, Kilgore allegedly entered an Alexandria Landing apartment and raped a young woman who was alone at the residence. The woman told officers that she was knocked to the floor in the hallway of her apartment and a black male followed her into the apartment where the incident occurred.

Nearly a month later on Aug. 9, a woman living at a Pine Grove Road residence told Cartersville police officers that a black male entered her home, demanding money. When the woman told the man that she had no money and her daughter was asleep in the residence the man threatened to rape her and began stabbing her, causing non-life threatening injuries to her arm. Both the woman and her daughter were able to escape the home and run to a neighbor for help.

CPD said that investigations are continuing.
