A one-vehicle accident late Wednesday evening closed one lane of Interstate 75 and sent two people to the hospital.

According to emergency officials on the scene, the driver a white Ford Expedition from Virginia lost control around 10:45 p.m. on I-75 northbound just south of exit 293. The vehicle came to rest in the median on its roof, facing southbound.

Georgia State Patrol Trooper Lauridson said witnesses stated it was possible another vehicle struck the SUV, causing the driver to lose control. Because of the condition of the SUV, it would be hard to determine if a second car was involved, according to Lauridson.

He said the driver told him she heard a loud noise and suddenly lost control.

Cartersville Fire Department Capt. Mark Bagley said the two passengers were transported to Cartersville Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

A poodle, aptly named Lucky, was taken to Cartersville Police Department to be boarded at the kennel until the owners could reclaim the animal.

CFD closed the left northbound lane as a safety precaution. It remained closed until the vehicle could be removed from the scene.
