He was born in Marietta, June 1, 1934, and was the son of the late Toy Lee Chumley and the late Bertha Scoggins Chumley. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Rebecca DeHaven Chumley.
He is survived by his children, James Chumley Jr., Belinda Cosby, Cheryl Gallegos, Sheila Pilcher, Janice Edwards, Debbie Thompson, Alan Chumley and Shiann Johnson; his brothers, Doug and George Chumley; his sisters, Anne Hern, Ruby Weatherford and Vickie Townsend (Brad); 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at noon Saturday in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cartersville.
