Horace Edward Shaw Sr., 63, of Amberidge Drive, Cartersville, passed away Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011.

Funeral service will be held Sunday, Sept. 25, at 3 p.m. at St. Luke A.M.E. Church. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Family will be receiving friends Saturday, Sept. 24, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Horace was born on May 11, 1948, to the late George and Lula Frances Shaw. He was educated in the Cartersville City School System and graduated from Summer Hill High School in 1966. He went to work for Union Carbide (AKA Clorox) at an early age where he retired as Extrusion Supervisor in 2003.

Horace was preceded in death by his parents George Sr. and Lula Frances Shaw; his step-mother, Ollie Mae Shaw; four brothers, Richard, James, George Jr., and Donald; and one sister, Anena Moore.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and dedicated wife, Rebecca; four children, Kimberly, Horace Jr. (Monica), Dexter Sr. (Kimberly), and Jaretta; three step-children, Dynel Stephens (Bill), Stephen Burton, and Desiree Burton; five grandchildren, Dexter Jr., Jackie II, Trevor, Taylor and Kyra; four step-grandchildren, Brett and Desiree Stephens, Maddox Donohoo and his special little lady Madison Micheal who came to see him almost every day; four sisters, Jennie Mae Bowen of Atlanta, Frances Helen Knowles of Cartersville, Charlene Perkinson (Willie) and Linda Perkinson (Nathaniel) both of Emerson; two step-sisters, Sally Jones and Marcella Jones both of Cartersville; special niece, Cynthia Russell; mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Pompa; brother-in-law, Robert Pompa; three sisters-in-law, Belinda Harrison, Rachel Serna and Doris Shaw; two special friends, William Solomon and James Maxwell; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
