Mr. James Larry Holloway, 73, of 88 Kimsey Circle, Cartersville, passed away Sept. 27, 2011 at his residence.

He was born in Rome, Jan. 21, 1938, son of the late James William "Slim" and L. E. Watkins Holloway. Mr. Holloway was a veteran having served with the United States Army and had been employed with Inland Container for 13 years and later with North Georgia Distribution, where he worked for over 28 years. He was a member of the Rome American Legion. Riding horses was a lifelong pastime for Mr. Holloway and he was a member of several saddle clubs. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Kelley Holloway of Cartersville; four sons, James William "Bill" and Margaret Holloway of Rome, Larry Marvin "Butchie" Holloway of Rome, Michael Larry and Mary Jane Holloway of Rome, and Coty Peace of Cartersville; two daughters, Stacy Payne of Rome, and Heidi Ingram of Kingston; two step-children, Vickie and Mike Pearson of Adairsville, and Doug Towe of Adairsville; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 29, at 1 p.m., from New Canaan Baptist Church, Cartersville, with Rev. Larry Towe officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Rome. The body will lie in state at the church from 12 p.m. until the funeral hour. Raymond Cordle, Ray Davis, Mike Pearson, Paul Loyd, Dylan Martin, and J. R. Vangurp will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Greg Hall, Tommy Goodnight, and Ed Driver.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 6 to 9 p.m., at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
