Mr. Frank D. Middleton, 79, of Cartersville, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at his son's residence where he was being cared for by his family. Born in Nebraska, Feb. 14, 1932, he was the son of the late Clifford Charles Middleton and the late Mildred Burry Messick. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his sisters, Glenda L. Hansen and Susan Siefring; and his granddaughters, Jamie Lee Middleton and Sarah Meagan Middleton.

Mr. Middleton was a veteran having retired after 27 years from the United States Air Force and later retired again from the Bartow County School System. He also served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Civil Air Patrol. He was an elder of the Bartow Cumberland Church in Rydal.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Blackwell Middleton; his sons and daughters-in-law, Frank D. Middleton Jr. and wife, Suzanne, Clifford Allan Middleton and wife, Jan and Weldon Middleton and wife, Janet; his daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia Long and husband Rick, and Tess Plunkett and husband, Cris; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sisters, Judee Bianco and Karynn Meike; his brothers, Clifford Middleton and Donald Middleton.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, at Bartow Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mark Rackley presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville.
