Four professionals serving Cartersville and Bartow County in the financial services arena have been recognized in Atlanta magazine.

Of those named among the 2011 Five Star Wealth Managers, Chuck Nida of Peachtree Planning is named for the fourth consecutive year; Bill Chandler of Edward Jones and Susan Simonton of Simonton Financial Associates are named for the second year; and John Bishop of Suntrust made the list for the first time.

Through a third-party survey conducted by QMI Research throughout a specific geographic region, no more than 7 percent of area wealth managers are recognized as Five Star professionals.

According to Five Star research overview, professionals from their respective field are judged on responses from both clients and peers.

"Client respondents evaluate wealth managers on nine criteria: customer service, integrity, knowledge/expertise, communication, value for fee charged, whether the wealth manager meets client financial objectives, post sale service, quality of recommendations and overall satisfaction. Peer respondents evaluate wealth managers based on three criteria: integrity, knowledge/expertise and overall reputation," stated www.fivestarprofessional.com.

As a second year recipient, how does it feel to be named a Five Star professional for another year?

A. I am just incredibly humbled, particularly by the fact that we are honored again.

Why is this recognition significant to you?

A. It is a very high honor that our clients appreciate our advice so much in a way that they would communicate it enough for us to be recognized.

What separates you from others in your field?

A. The fact that we only specialize in the long-term, conservative individual investor. That's our only client is the long-term, conservative individual investor.

What is your background, education and experience in the financial services profession?

A. I am a native of Cartersville, Ga. I graduated from Cass High School, a graduate from the University of Georgia Business School and 13 years with Edward Jones Investments as a financial investor.

Having received this recognition for many years, how does it feel to again be named as a Five Star professional?

A. I am elated and truly honored to receive such a prestigious award for the fourth consecutive year.

Why is this recognition significant to you?

A. This award is very special because it reflects client satisfaction, recognition from your peers and financial institutions. To be named again to the list in the Estate Planning category is very humbling.

What separates you from others in your field?

A. The uniqueness of Peachtree Planning is that we are a comprehensive financial planning firm. We focus on the process rather than the product. Every asset or protection component effects the whole. How it is coordinated and integrated will determine the effectiveness and efficiency of the financial plan.

What is your background, education and experience in the financial services profession?

A. I started in the financial planning business here in Bartow County in 1990. It is so hard to believe that 21 years have gone by. I came from a ministry background, which serves as the foundation of my core belief values which truly is about serving my clients to the best of my ability. I have been a NAIFA member for 21 years. MDRT Qualifier, LUTCF Designation and graduate of numerous estate and financial planning certificate programs. Currently enrolled in CLU, CHFC program with the American College.

Name: Susan H. Simonton

Title: Financial Advisor

Company: Simonton Financial Associates

Address: 217 S. Erwin St., Cartersville

As a second year recipient, how does it feel to be named a Five Star professional for another year?

A. Wow! It is such an honor and I am humbled to be recognized for something I feel so passionate about, especially for a second year.

Why is this recognition significant to you?

A. This award is significant because it comes from the individuals I serve, my clients. It is one of the most important awards an advisor could ever receive. Just think, to know that my clients not only believe in me but also respect my advice and efforts on their behalf is very gratifying.

What separates you from others in your field?

A. My 23 years in education. My passion for teaching and helping clients understand their investments and insurance makes this profession very gratifying. I want them to understand what their choices are and what the risks are so they can make "educated" decisions. The clients need to understand the logic of one decision over another. I realized when transitioning from my first career that I was not "educated" on my own retirement or employee benefits. It is embarrassing that basic financial literacy is not taught in this country. I am here to fill that gap for my clients.

What is your background, education and experience in the financial services profession?

A. My background prior to wealth management was education. I hold a Doctorate in Education from the University of Georgia -- go Dawgs -- but have learned so much more since then. After 17 years in wealth management, I have acquired the necessary securities and insurance licenses to allow me to reach out to all individuals and examine their needs from mutual funds to stocks to retirement plans to long-term care for seniors. I am independent and not tied to any one company for products or solutions. A one-stop shop!

At the end of the day, I enjoy learning new things and trying new approaches. This is a wonderful and rewarding career. I get to keep learning, which allows me to financially educate people and make new friends all the time. Like I said to start, "Wow!" Life is good and God is good.
