A man in a wheelchair fell into Lake Allatoona at Red Top Mountain's Park Marina Saturday afternoon around 3:35. He was reportedly attending a family reunion.

According to an eyewitness who spoke with The Daily Tribune News but did not want to be named, the man, Tom Moore from Indiana, was exiting a boat onto a part of the marina deck near the refueling station when he fell into the water. Witnesses said they could see bubbles coming from where he went into the water because he had an oxygen tank with him.

First responders on scene attempted to pull him out with ropes attached to anchors, and a water rescue diver was seen arriving at the scene about 4:30. The area where the man fell is reported to be extremely deep.

Cartersville and Bartow County fire departments and the Bartow County Sheriff's Office had no information on the incident. The DTN was referred to the U.S. Corps of Engineers, and as of press time, no further information was available.
