Sheriff Clark Millsap said more information would be released this afternoon.
According to residents in the area, a white man shot the victim at 31 Weems Spur Road, the home of her boyfriend. Residents said the man, who they say is in custody, had threatened to kill the woman prior to Monday's incident.
Millsap said authorities were on the scene until about 5:30 this morning.
