Barbara was an educator for more than 20 years having worked in several school systems including Texas, Mississippi and Georgia as an administrator, assistant principal and teacher. Barbara was employed as a principal with the Bartow County School System from 1973 until the time of her retirement. She was a member of Bartow Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Barbara also was a member of the Retired Educators Association and the Corra Harris House Foundation.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Frank D. Middleton Jr. and Suzanne, Clifford Allan Middleton and Jan, and Weldon Middleton and Janet; her daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia Long and Rick, and Tess Plunkett and Cris; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; her sisters, Betty Blackwell-Cook, and Zelma Rea Kennon.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, at Bartow Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Mark Rackley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
