Adairsville advanced to the state playoffs for the first time since 2003 and Woodland closed out its season with a victory while raising its win total from a year ago.

Cartersville and Cass both lost in their high school football season-ending games Friday night.

The Tigers (9-1, 4-1 Region 7B-AA) claimed a 24-14 road victory over Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe in their play-in game to the state playoffs, which begin next Friday.

Woodland defeated Sequoyah 39-27 to close out its season with four wins under new coach Vince DiLorenzo, improving to 4-6 from its 3-7 record of a year ago in Region 7-AAAA.

Cartersville fell 21-14 to Dalton in a clash of storied programs at Weinman Stadium, home of the Purple Hurricanes. The Canes closed their season 5-5 overall, 3-2 Region 7B-AAA.

The Colonels fell to 0-10 overall and in Region 7-AAAA when it fell 31-0 to Lambert, a playoff-bound team.
