Leon Allen Burgamy, 76, of Cartersville, died Nov. 15, 2011.

Mr. Burgamy was born July 26, 1935 in Sparta, son of the late Cohen Leon Burgamy and Ellene Yarbrough Burgamy.

He was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cartersville, Carl Boyd Post of the American Legion Post #42, served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict where he was attached as a corpsman, was a 1964 graduate of the University of Georgia and a 1975 graduate of the John Marshall School of Law. He was a member of the American Society for Clinical Pathologists and was employed at Grady Hospital in Atlanta as a Medical Technologist.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Archer Burgamy; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Joy Burgamy of Knoxville, Greg and Robin Burgamy of Michigan, and Jay and Laura Marie Burgamy of Woodstock; grandchildren, Laura Ann, Matthew, Jennifer, Trent and Brook; sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Wayne Stevens of Sparta; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Beatrice Eley.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, from the Chapel of the Owen Funeral Home with Dr. Don Hattaway officiating. Interment will be in the Sunset Memory Gardens, with military graveside rites observed.

Pallbearers will be Michael, Greg, Jay and Matthew Burgamy, Dodge Johnson and Randy Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Disabled Veterans Society.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon Saturday until 2 p.m.
