According to a witness, one of the men asked for a lottery ticket and was handed one. He scratched the ticket but refused to pay for it. Grabbing a pack of cigarettes, the man then walked out the door. Several witnesses stepped outside to stop the vehicle from leaving. The man then accelerated the vehicle in reverse striking a woman's leg. The other man walked around the building.
Arriving on scene the officer observed video surveillance of the incident. The officer observed that the man driving the vehicle wore a white shirt, a hat and blue jeans.
Witnesses on scene saw the vehicle pull behind a house; therefore an officer went to the location and found one of the men. This man said he was the one who walked away and not the driver. The man wore a white shirt but said he changed shirts since the incident.The officer took a picture of the man and went to the witnesses. They identified this man as the driver.
According to the man, he scratched the ticket and won. However, the grocery would not pay him so he and the other man walked outside to leave. He still claimed he was not the driver. He was transported to jail.
The woman was taken to Cartersville Medical Center for injuries to her right knee and right angle.
