According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, On Monday Nov. 16, at about 7:32 p.m., deputies responded to Payless Shoes in response to reports of shots being fired and windows of stores being shot out. Deputies arrived and met with store employees and witnesses who described an argument between two persons standing on the sidewalk. Witnesses reported that a vehicle pulled up and the occupants started yelling at the two persons on the sidewalk. After an exchange of words, someone in the car fired several shots from a firearm toward the stores, striking the glass windows at Payless Shoes and V Nail Salon. The vehicle then left and was later located by deputies and investigators from BCSO after a Cartersville Police officer stopped the car near the area.
Sheriff Millsap stated that when the vehicle was located — near Felton Road and Highway 41 — three persons were arrested and detained. Three guns were located, two of which had been reported as stolen.
Arrested at the vehicle stop were Tia Jean Boyd, 18; Cody Ryan Skipper, 20; and Katlin Durrell Gamble, 20; all of Cartersville. These three are charged (each) with ten counts of aggravated assault and two counts of criminal damage to property in the first degree. The investigation has led to authorites issuing warrants on a fourth person believed to be involved. Warrants are pending for the arrest of the fourth, unnamed at this time, person for the same charges as the others who were taken into custody. No injuries were reported during this incident.
