Mrs. Lois Ruth Williams Johnson, 76, of Adairsville, departed this life Thursday morning, Dec. 1, 2011, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Lois was born April 3, 1935 in Gordon County. She was a daughter of the late Hugh and Lula Haygood Williams. She also was preceded in death by her husband Cecil E. Johnson, a brother, McRae Williams, and sisters, Beatrice Smith, Dimple Watkins and Margaret Clark. Lois also was preceded by special foster parents Ernest and Bertha Haygood. Lois was a long time residence of Calhoun and a member of the Eastern Star and Plainview Baptist Church.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Andrea Johnson of Ranger; daughter and son-in-law, Sonya and Gary Phillips of Adairsville; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Henson, Mary Johnson, Dolly Johnson, Vera Johnson and Frances Williams; and brother-in-law Vernon (Ruth) Johnson. Lois had six grandchildren, Jason and Joshua Johnson, Blake and Ashley Dean, Amanda Dean, Zac and Tara Sims. Brother Bobby Haygood of Calhoun and sister Pat Chastain also of Calhoun. A special niece and caregiver Karen Capehart and Anne Mathews. Special friends Thelma Cornwell, Willene Blackmon, Janell Dean, Clara Hicks, Martha Silvers, Vennie Wisner, Georgie Meadows and Rosa Smith.

Services for Mrs. Lois Ruth Williams Johnson will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3, at Plainview Baptist Church with Rev. Lamar Beason and Rev. Mark Harris officiating. Music provided by James Williams, Linda Cantrell and Eddie Blackmon. K.O. Cornwall, Larry Turner, Doug Shaw, Greg Bowman, Charles Coker and Kerry Crosby will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Buck Baker, Kirk Cantrell, Willy Hicks, Gary Copely, Bill Chastain and Ronnie Everett. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 4 to 9 p.m. at Ponders Funeral Home in Calhoun and Lois will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the hour of service. Interment will follow the service at the Fain Cemetery in Calhoun.
