The Bartow County Sheriff's Office has announced an Acworth man has been charged in connection with the burglary of an Acworth residence.

According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, Jason Tyler Smith, 20, of 5305 Staton Place, Acworth, has been charged with party to the crime of burglary. Investigators allege that on July 27 Smith and an accomplice broke into a residence on Pickeys Hollow in Red Top Mountain Estates. Several weapons were taken from the residence at that time.

Smith had been incarcerated in the Cobb County Jail on unrelated charges after the burglary and has now been transferred to Bartow County. Smith is charged with one count of party to the crime burglary and is being held at the Bartow County Jail pending a $10,000 bond.

The name of the accomplice is being withheld at this time, but authorities say the person is being held at the Cobb County Jail on unrelated charges and will be transferred to Bartow County once those charges are settled to face charges in Bartow.
