"We continue to have good [Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax] receipts accumulating, as we had planned," Finance Committee Member David Apple said during the work session.
Apple spoke for chairwoman Kelley Dial, who was late to the work session. Members present included Dial, President Linda Benton, Apple and Pat Broadnax as well as Superintendent Howard Hinesley.
A quorum was not established or necessary because there was no action taken on any agenda items.
The school system collected $344,955 for the month of November and will see the results of December's revenue next month.
"We've collected 93 percent of our anticipated revenues through local taxes at this point," Assistant Superintendent Ken Clouse said, adding the school system is continuing to collect on its 2012 cycle due to approving SPLOST at an earlier time "than usual."
Most consent items for the Monday, Jan. 9, business session concern the continuation of board practices, such as the continued appointment of Harry B. White as the board attorney and that board members be authorized to attend annual education and training conferences. The agenda can be viewed at www.cartersville.k12.ga.us.
Committee recommendations include adoption of a new drug screening policy for bus drivers and rescinding of the system's former policy.
The board will meet Monday at 6 p.m. in the central office boardroom.
