After re-appointing David Herrin, Dr. Dwain Montgomery, Lt. Robert Bishop and C.L. Tidwell to the animal control board, Brown signed resolutions that would enter into agreements with three former employees in the tax commissioner’s office.
Those agreements, according to County Administrator Steve Bradley, will primarily function for training purposes.
“They are not employees,” Bradley said. “They will be working as independent contractors to help with the transition and train their replacements.”
“A lot of knowledge is leaving with them,” Brown said of the retired employees. “We will keep a contract to have them help the new people. Once the new employees get through the first year they will be fine.”
The commissioner also approved to enter into a lease agreement with Phillip Shook to rent the park superintendent’s home at Bartow Carver Park as he transitions through retirement and moves into another residence.
“He’s been the superintendent for many years and will continue as an overseer [for the area] but without his regular duties,” Bradley said. “The agreement is for him to rent the home and pay his own utilities until he moves.”
Wrapping up the meeting, Brown signed a resolution to set the qualifying fees for Bartow County offices for the 2012 general primary and election. Fees, Brown said, are based on the salaries of the elected officials.
