Jurors found one man guilty of several counts of child molestation and rape in Bartow County Superior Court in early December. He was sentenced to life in prison plus 65 years to run concurrent with the life sentence. He will be eligible for probation at a future date.

Johnathan Bacchus was originally indicted in May 2009 on charges of child molestation, rape, incest and cruelty to children after he allegedly had sexual intercourse with three minor blood relatives, all under the age of 12. One victim claimed he had relations with her from age 7 until she turned 12.

The first trial in 2010 resulted in a mistrial after the jury was unable to reach a verdict. Bacchus was re-tried and found guilty in December 2011 and, according to his sentence, he may not initiate any contact with the victims and must comply with sex offender conditions of probation.
